From Nursery Roots to Cannabis Innovation: The Journey of a Visionary
Raised in the verdant world of a local nursery where my father served as head grower for over two decades, I was immersed in the science of plants from an early age. At seven, I was already plugging trays, learning the nuances of genus and species, growth conditions, and the impact of the environment on plants. My father's passion for botany ignited my curiosity, teaching me the profound significance of agriculture in our lives.
Despite an underprivileged upbringing, I sought a better life through education but found my calling elsewhere. College was not my path; instead, I turned to music in 2003, learning the arts of marketing, networking, and sales through social media. My journey took me to Wyoming in 2012, where I briefly ventured into the cannabis trade to fund my musical aspirations. However, after witnessing close friends encounter legal issues, I pivoted to selling phones, quickly discovering my natural sales talent fueled by empathy.
The quest for financial gain led me into car sales, where I excelled but felt compelled to leave when my morals were compromised. Seeking a fresh start, I moved to Colorado, securing a role at AT&T and swiftly ascending from an entry-level representative to a regional business sales manager in just eight months. Yet, my entrepreneurial spirit yearned for more; I began renting studio space to mentor artists in using social media for marketing, all while shattering expectations in my corporate role by pioneering new business strategies.
The legalization of cannabis in Massachusetts sparked my return to my roots, living frugally with relatives to save enough to pursue my true passion: growing, processing, and innovating with cannabis. Joining a local growers club opened my eyes to the untapped potential of legalization. With my production skills, I captured this evolving story, earning significant press at major cannabis events.
This journey culminated in the development of Herban Extracts. Surviving the challenges of the COVID-19 era, we now embark on a rebranding that aims to elevate our brand to unprecedented heights. My path from the nursery to the forefront of cannabis innovation underscores a relentless pursuit of knowledge, growth, and ethical entrepreneurship.
